Leading from Your Integrated Masculine and Feminine Capacities

In this video from the 2020 Advanced Practice Group, John describes how leadership is an integrated expression of your cultivated masculine and feminine capacities.

You’ll learn:

  • In a moment of masculine leadership, what is driving you is consciousness; in a moment of feminine leadership, what is driving you is love

  • Masculine leadership is about cultivating a single-minded connection to consciousness and then, from consciousness, deciding the next right action, or the next path - i.e. the next move of your body, the next step for your family, the next year for your business, etc.

  • In a moment of masculine leadership, 50% of your awareness is tethered to the infinite, and 50% of your awareness is tethered to the field that you are in

  • David Deida describes masculine leadership as putting yourself into a desired future moment and then calculating a path to that future moment versus feeling your way through the next step, or using consensus or team building to get there

  • There are moments when connecting to consciousness and deciding the next step is preferable to being with the feeling of your heart and moving forward from there because emotion may dictate one movement and consciousness may dictate another

  • The moments when feminine leadership are called for are the ones that ask “What does love want to do next?”

  • There may be crossover between relaxing into feeling, and resting as consciousness and waiting for something to emerge

  • In general, each human being who wants to lead should cultivate both capacities - the capacity to relax into consciousness, and the capacity to feel completely - because that allows for a beautiful calibration between tethering to the infinite and feeling everything that is happening in this moment, and then moving from there

  • There are spectrums of this integration - you may use 80% of your feeling and 20% of your awareness, or vise versa—each moment will call for a different blend

Ultimately, you want to be able to be tethered both to the deepest part of your heart and to consciousness itself, and calibrate from that integration through your body-mind as you make decisions in the world.
